📖
Ifrad, Qiran & Tamattu'
Before you enter the state of Ihram, you must decide which type of Hajj you intend to perform. Each has its own rulings, and understanding the difference will help you prepare with clarity and confidence.
You intend Hajj only, without combining it with Umrah. You remain in Ihram for Hajj until you complete all its rites, and no animal sacrifice (Hady) is obligatory on you for this reason alone.
You intend Umrah and Hajj together, from the same Ihram, and do not exit Ihram between them. You remain in Ihram until the Day of Sacrifice, and a Hady (sacrificial animal) becomes obligatory on you.
You perform Umrah first during the months of Hajj, exit Ihram completely afterward, then enter a fresh Ihram for Hajj later. This is the type most pilgrims choose, and it also requires a Hady.
If you are unsure which type suits your journey, your QIS guide will help you decide based on your travel dates and group.

Authentic Supplications for Your Journey
These are among the supplications reported from the Prophet ﷺ and his companions for key moments of Hajj and Umrah. Learn them before you travel so your heart is ready when the moment comes.
Here I am, O Allah, here I am. Here I am, You have no partner, here I am. Verily all praise, blessing, and dominion are Yours. You have no partner.
رَبَّنَا آتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفِي الْآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ
Our Lord, give us good in this world and good in the Hereafter, and protect us from the punishment of the Fire.
There is no god but Allah alone, He has no partner. His is the dominion and His is all praise, and He has power over all things.
More du'as for Sa'i, Muzdalifah, and the days of Tashreeq will be added as we continue building this guide.

What to Arrange Before Travelling
A well-prepared pilgrim travels with a lighter heart. Here is what to put in order before you set out on your journey.
Repent sincerely, settle disputes with others, and seek forgiveness from anyone you may have wronged before you travel.
Valid international passport, Hajj/Umrah visa, vaccination certificates, and printed copies of your QIS travel itinerary.
Settle debts where possible, arrange halal spending money for the trip, and leave adequate provision for your family at home.
A medical check-up, any personal medication clearly labelled, and comfortable footwear for long hours of walking.
Ihram garments (for men), modest travel clothing, a small bag for the Haram, and light layers for changing weather.
Review the rites of your chosen Hajj type, learn the key du'as, and know who to contact from QIS at every stage of the journey.

Important Guidance for Female Pilgrims
Islam makes clear and merciful provision for women on this journey. Here is guidance every female pilgrim should know before she travels.
A woman's Ihram is simply modest, loose clothing covering the body, with the face and hands left uncovered in front of non-mahram men. There is no special colour required, unlike men's Ihram.
Most scholars require a woman to travel with a mahram (a husband or close male relative she cannot marry) for Hajj and Umrah. QIS can guide you on how this applies to your group's arrangement.
A woman who begins menstruating may perform all the rites of Hajj except Tawaf around the Ka'bah, until she is pure. Her scholar or QIS guide can advise on the correct sequence if this occurs.
Women are not required to jog during Sa'i or bare their shoulders during Tawaf as some men do. Every rite has been made manageable for women by the Sunnah itself.
Pack breathable modest wear, a light scarf for the Haram's air conditioning, and comfortable non-restrictive footwear for the long hours of standing and walking.
QIS assigns female guides and support contacts for our sisters travelling with us, so you are never without someone to turn to for questions or assistance.
For rulings specific to your situation, please consult a qualified scholar or your QIS guide before travelling.
Qiblah Pilgrim Learning Centre
A step-by-step beginner's guide to the rites of Hajj, based on the Qur'an and authentic Sunnah.
Hajj is an act of worship that requires sincerity, knowledge, patience, and preparation. A pilgrim should learn the rites before travelling and ask qualified scholars about matters specific to their circumstances.
When approaching the prescribed Miqat, the pilgrim prepares for Ihram, makes the intention for the type of Hajj being performed, and begins the Talbiyah.
Upon reaching the Sacred Mosque, the pilgrim enters with humility and performs the rites prescribed for their type of Hajj.
Tawaf consists of going around the Ka'bah seven times, beginning at the Black Stone and completing seven circuits.
The pilgrim performs seven trips between Safa and Marwah, following the practice established by the Prophet ﷺ.
During the days of Hajj, pilgrims proceed to Mina and spend the prescribed time there while engaging in prayer, remembrance of Allah, and other acts of worship.
Arafah is one of the greatest days of Hajj. Pilgrims stand at Arafah, pray, make du'a, remember Allah, and seek His forgiveness.
After leaving Arafah, pilgrims proceed to Muzdalifah and spend the prescribed night there according to the rites of Hajj.
Pilgrims stone the designated Jamarat during the prescribed days, following the Sunnah and avoiding harm to other pilgrims.
Depending on the type of Hajj, the pilgrim performs the prescribed sacrifice. Male pilgrims shave or shorten their hair, while female pilgrims shorten their hair.
The pilgrim completes the remaining rites of Hajj, including Tawaf al-Ifadah and the other prescribed acts according to their type of Hajj.
The exact sequence and obligations can differ depending on whether you perform Ifrad, Qiran, or Tamattu'. This guide is an educational introduction and does not replace qualified Islamic instruction.
Qiblah Pilgrim Learning Centre
A simple step-by-step guide to the rites of Umrah, based on the Qur'an and authentic Sunnah.
Umrah is a pilgrimage to the Sacred House in Makkah that can be performed throughout the year, subject to the rules and arrangements applicable to the time of travel.
Before reaching the Miqat, the pilgrim prepares for Ihram. Men wear the prescribed Ihram garments, while women may wear normal modest clothing that fulfils the requirements of Islamic dress.
At the appropriate point, the pilgrim intends to perform Umrah and enters the state of Ihram.
After entering Ihram, the pilgrim recites the Talbiyah and continues reciting it according to the Sunnah.
Upon reaching Makkah, the pilgrim enters Masjid al-Haram with humility and begins the rites of Umrah.
Perform seven circuits around the Ka'bah, beginning at the Black Stone and ending after completing the seventh circuit.
After completing Tawaf, the pilgrim prays two units of prayer where reasonably possible, without causing difficulty or harm to other worshippers.
The pilgrim performs seven trips between Safa and Marwah, beginning at Safa and finishing at Marwah.
After completing Sa'i, the Umrah is completed by removing hair from the head.
Once the hair has been shaved or shortened, the restrictions of Ihram end and the pilgrim has completed their Umrah.
Details concerning Ihram, Miqat, women, menstruation, and other circumstances can require specific scholarly guidance. When in doubt, consult a qualified scholar rather than relying on assumptions.
